How to Write a Good English Composition

For all students, every essay or assignment brings with it lots of burden and pressure, making it impossible for them to concentrate on other things or lectures. In opinion of experts from no matter how pressurized you are, it is important for you to write a good English composition, the one that is able to please your teacher and can come up with his expectations. Brilliant students may write such essays without any issue, but the average or weak students need to remember a few things to be assured of quality.

  1. Take inspiration from other students’ essays

It is important for you to read what other students have had written. For example, if you have been asked to write a movie review, then you must write it in accordance with your teacher’s directions. But before that, you need to read your classmates’ essays to have an idea of how to format the paper and what needs to be covered in this essay.

  1. Use multiple resources

It would be great to use multiple resources like books and journals. You do not have to restrict yourself to a particular scholarly article or book considering it the best. Until or unless your teacher has not asked so, you do not need to limit yourself to one source. The more you read, the more you will learn. The best way to improve your writing skills is that you should read multiple books and journals and extract useful information, the one that is relevant to your essay topic and is authentic and valid.

  1. Build your vocabulary

One of the major mistakes students make is that they do not learn English and have not interested in building their vocabulary. In order to write a good English composition, you must build your vocabulary, learn new words daily, and understand their meanings. The more you use a dictionary for this purpose, the higher will be your chances of getting success. If you will limit yourself to a few words, phrases and sentences only, you may never get the desired scores and won’t be able to please your teacher as much as you might have expected to.

  1. Always use sub-headings

Whether your essay consists of 500 words or it has 5000 words, you should always use sub-headings and divide it into short and long paragraphs. Make sure every paragraph contains sufficient information regarding the issue. Headings and sub-headings are meant to give a flawless look to your English composition and can guarantee good grades.

  1. Pitch your ideas

If your teacher has not provided you with proper details or the topic is unclear, then you can pitch your own ideas to help him assign you something you would love to write about. For example, if he has just asked to write a poem analysis and did not name the poem, you should suggest the poems that might be of your interest. I am sure this will help him select the right topic for you and will guarantee good marks.

These are very simple and straightforward tips; besides them, you should pay attention to the content quality, formatting of your paper and of course, do not plagiarize it at any cost. Make sure every sentence you write is beneficial and meaningful and is free from plagiarism. Avoid using quotes until or unless your teacher has not asked.
